THEATRE BY THE LAKE, KESWICK – SOME PRODUCTIONS SUMMER 2014

Peregrine

Three army cadets are on manoeuvres in the North Pennines in Cumbria. High on an isolated and bleak moorland plateau, they think no one knows where they are. But Craig does. And he’s on his way, fuelled by anger and pain, with a dangerous secret which will blow their lives apart.
Suitable for ages 14+

One Woman’s War

This is a personal story of one woman’s struggle against authority and apathy. Catherine Marshall, suffragist and pacifist, lived at Hawse End on Derwentwater at the beginning of the 20th century. She set up the Keswick Women’s Suffrage Society and joined the battle for the right to vote. It wasn’t plain sailing – she faced an uphill battle in Westminster and the turbulence of WWI nearly destroyed her relationships. But Catherine never gave up.

The Knicker Lady

A unique and hilarious brief history of… well, briefs! Join Rosemary Hawthorne in her romping one woman show, as she follows the humble knicker through two hundred and fifty years of bloomers and bustles. From the liberty bodice to the Y-front, meet these iconic undergarments and find out more about the colourful characters who wore them. No unmentionable will be left unturned.
