See How They Run!

It’s wartime 1944 and in sleepy Merton-cum-Middlewick the most urgent conflict seems to be over who is decorating the church pulpit for the Harvest Festival. Ex-actress Penelope is struggling to settle in to her new role as demure vicar’s wife – but all that is about to change as her handsome former co-star, an escaped German prisoner of war, a bishop and several vicars descend on her house in one night of utter chaos. This screwball comedy is family-friendly farce at its most frantic and hilarious, leaving you just as breathless as Merton’s madcap residents.

For the last year we have been offering outstanding fine dining in our refurbished Coach House Restaurant and now we are delighted to announce the opening of the Stable Bar Bistro. The Bistro is set in the original lodge stables creating a unique & relaxed atmosphere. In these more somewhat less formal surrounding we are offering appropriately less formal food such as fish & chips using the best haddock and chef’s very special chunky chips and Chef’s pie of the day. In all the menu will consist of a choice of 3 or 4 items from a speciual Bistro menu all priced at £9.95 but you will also be free to select dishes of the Coach House Restauarnt Specials Board. The Bistro serves food from 6.00 and is open 7 days a week; reservations are not required.

We are delighted to announce the arrival of a new Head Chef at Ravenstone Lodge, Rob Taylor. Rob is an outstanding chef with a wealth of experience. Having worked under the 2 Michelin star chef Jean Marc Antonello Rob went on to gain 2 AA rosettes as Head Chef in a number of prestigious restaurants across the UK. The menu will change through the month of course but will always combine the best of our local Lake District ingredients! KESWICK STREET THEATRE, 28 May to 16 July

Every Tuesday from 28th May until the 16th July Keswick Street Theatre present their summer production, which starts outside the Moot Hall at 7.30pm. Over 1¼ hours the audience are taken on a short walk around the centre of town where they enjoy ten different scenes, each depicting different characters and events from Keswick over the last 450 years. Staged by a cast of local performers, this fun and light hearted evening has been a popular event for almost 10 years, and in that time has raised several thousand pounds for local charities and good causes. With colourful costumes, and lots of laughs for both young and old, this potted pantomime of Keswick history provides a great evening for everyone.

No booking is necessary – simply turn up outside the Moot Hall (by the Tourist Information Centre entrance) before 7.30pm.

Minimum donation £2.50 per adult, accompanied children under 16 free. The show ends at approximately 8.45pm.
